Wyman: 4 plays the Seahawks won by inches to defeat the Rams

Oct 5, 2019, 9:47 AM

Seahawks radio color commentator Dave Wyman had a phrase he remembered from his football career come to mind after watching the Seahawks narrowly defeat the Los Angeles Rams 30-29 on Thursday night:

Fight for every blade of grass.

Coverage of Seahawks’ win over Rams: Clayton | Moore | O’Neil | Rost

The Seahawks certainly did that, and it helped them win a true game of inches against the defending NFC champions.

In his latest edition of Football 101, Wyman takes to the whiteboard to highlight four plays that went the Seahawks’ way by just a matter of inches, which adds up when the final score is determined by just one point.

The four plays are:

• Tyler Lockett’s 13-yard toe-tapping touchdown catch from Russell Wilson

• Al Woods stopping Rams QB Jared Goff from getting in on a two-point conversion (watch at 5:41 in this video)

• Tedric Thompson’s sprawled-out interception late in the fourth quarter

• Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein missing a 44-yard field goal on L.A.’s final play

That’s not all that Wyman looks at, however. In the second part of the video, he puts the Seahawks’ receiving corps in focus, specifically the man who he says is emerging as the No. 2 receiver behind Tyler Lockett – tight end Will Dissly.

Be sure to catch Wyman throughout the week on Bob, Dave and Moore from 3-7 p.m. on 710 ESPN Seattle, and you can also find the former Seahawks and Broncos linebacker on Hawks Live at 7 p.m. next Thursday ahead of the Seahawks’ next game against the Cleveland Browns.
