The Seahawks will once again play a top rushing offense short a defensive tackle. Head coach Pete Carroll said rookie Nazair Jones will miss Sunday’s matchup against Jacksonville during his weekly Friday show with Dori Monson on 97.3 KIRO Radio.

Russell Wilson doesn’t fit the traditional mold of an MVP, and that’s

“It’s going to take him another week,” Carroll said of Jones, who rolled his ankle in practice last week. Defensive end Dion Jordan – who Carroll called “day-to-day” – is also a question mark.
There were a few additional injury updates for the offensive line, including the news that guard Oday Aboushi will head to the injured reserve.

“He’s finished for the season, he’s on IR,” Carroll said. “Or, he’s not yet, but he will be eventually. He’s going to have to get surgery and stuff like that.”

Rookie Ethan Pocic played 100 percent of Seattle’s offensive snaps at right guard last week against the Eagles. He missed practice earlier this week with an ankle injury, but Carroll sounded optimistic about his chances to start again.

“He practiced through the week on a limited basis. He’s going to be OK we think. We’ll work him out at the stadium, but we think he’s going to be OK to play.”

Here a few additional notes:

On the lingering injury to Duane Brown, and his impact on the offensive line: “He’s still not quite able to practice all the time during the outdoor practice, but now he can get the work and walk thru stuff to get him prepared. He’s shown us that he can play like that, and so he is much more active than he’s been, and he’s working with us and he’s developing, and he’s a fantastic player.”

On whether preparation for the Jaguars is similar to last week’s preparation for the Eagles: “You could put on the tape from last week or the tape from this week, and you’re going to hear kind of the same observations. They’re the leading rushing team in the NFL, they’re the leading defense in the NFL, points and yards and all that, they’re the leading sack team by a lot, you can’t move the ball on them, can’t score on them, and nobody can’t stop them running the football. They’ve got a great formula, the one we know is championship. Really, they’re kind of unveiling how good they are, they’re kind of figuring that out, and they are a loaded football team. They’ve got tons of depth… so we’ve got our hands full.”
