As my colleague Shannon Drayer, Mariners insider for 710 ESPN Seattle, likes to write it:

Lineup!

Drayer: M’s endured hard road to opening day because they want to play

The first lineup of the 2020 Seattle Mariners season has been penciled in by manager Scott Servais for Friday’s 6:10 p.m. game in Houston against the Astros.

We’ll have coverage on 710 ESPN Seattle beginning with Shannon and the rest of the broadcast crew on the pregame show at 5 p.m., followed of course by the game and the postgame show.

So, what stands out about this opening day lineup for the M’s? Well, it’s young, and as such there are young players in key spots.

Second baseman Shed Long Jr. is the leadoff man.

In his MLB debut, first baseman Evan White will hit second.

And the powerful Kyle Lewis, Seattle’s first top pick of the Servais/Jerry Dipoto era back in 2016, will be in the cleanup spot and roam center field.

On the mound, as we’ve known for a while now, will be crafty veteran southpaw Marco Gonzales, making his second opening day start in a row and his first since inking a long-term extension with the Mariners over the offseason.

Here’s the full look at what the Mariners will have on the field and at the plate Friday night.

With an already ‘elite’ glove, Evan White’s bat could make him special
