Getting the chance to put on a Major League uniform is a privilege not many can say they’ve experienced.

For those drafted in the first couple rounds of the MLB First Year Player Draft, such as Mariners selections DJ Peterson and Austin Wilson, their chances of doing that just increased.

Being selected with a high pick certainly doesn’t ensure success at the big league level, as countless players have flamed out before reaching the big leagues.

But for at least one day, those drafted are one step closer to realizing their dreams, and in this afternoon’s “Blowers on Baseball,” TV analyst Mike Blowers discussed how special draft day is.

“I think it’s a pretty cool day really for kids,” Blowers said. “I get a chance to talk to them and meet some of them. I look forward to watching the local kids get an opportunity (as well).”

Blowers’ draft experience was a bit different than most, however.

“I was a little unusual, in that I was drafted four times,” Blowers said. “For myself, it was every year waiting, hoping that I would get signed and be on my journey.”

For all of this year’s draftees, the hope is their journey has just begun on the road to a big league career.
