Ex-Seahawks lineman Moffitt arrested in Chicago

Former Seahawks offensive lineman John Moffitt was arrested in Chicago early Sunday and charged with two felony drug possession counts as well as misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Moffitt, who made news during the 2013 season for retiring from the Broncos at age 27, allegedly hit a man in the head who confronted him about selling drugs in The Underground nightclub, according to a report from DNAInfo.com. Officers then discovered he had 10 grams of marijuana, one gram of cocaine and four pills of ecstasy, the report said. He was ordered to be released of his own recognizance by Judge James Brown.
The Seahawks drafted Moffitt in the third round in 2011, and he spent two seasons with the team before he was traded to Denver prior to the 2013 campaign. He retired after appearing in two games with the Broncos.
This is not his first brush with the law. After a series of three separate incidents at Bellevue Square mall in 2012, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct, paid a fine of $1,407 and received a suspended sentence of 24 months in jail.
