Those two worlds collided in 2005 for Lo Duca, who found himself torn between playing with the Florida Marlins and keeping up on his pick to win the Kentucky Derby during a game that he had hoped would stay in a rain delay long enough for him to watch the race live.
Lo Duca, who works now The Action Network and shared the full story in an article on the web site (read here), joined John Clayton on 710 ESPN Seattle to give an audio version of one of his craziest moments on the field as a big league ballplayer.
You can hear more of Lo Duca’s interview with Clayton, including thoughts on the surging Seattle Mariners and a preview of Saturday’s Belmont Stakes, in this podcast.
