Eric Wedge spoke to the media a few minutes and confirmed that Franklin Gutierrez was sent out to undergo an MRI after feeling something in the right pectoral area when he threw a ball during drills this morning.

“We don’t really know anything yet,” Wedge said. “We are waiting on the MRI results and figuring out just what the game plan is going to be after we get that back. He felt something in the pec region when we were taking infield. We will wait and see and go from there.”

Gutierrez had a full warmup and made several throws before making one that didn’t appear to have anything on it. He lobbed back the next ball hit to him and then came off the field with a trainer.

Gutierrez returned to the complex after the MRI and spent several hours in the training room. He shows no visible signs of any time of trouble but the MRI will tell the tale.

No starting pitcher.
