No conversation with Dennis Eckersley involving the Mariners and manager Eric Wedge would be complete without touching on the topic of mustaches.
Eckersley, the Hall of Fame pitcher who’s now an MLB analyst for TBS, sported one of the most famous mustaches in baseball.
Maybe it takes a man with a great mustache to appreciate another, because Eckersley told Brock & Salk on Friday that he’s a big fan of what Wedge has got going on.
“You can’t miss it because he’s letting it grow down, way down,” Eckersley said. “… He’s into it, and I kinda dig it. I do. I kinda dig it.”
How does Wedge’s mustache stack up with his own?
“As far as comparing it to my mustache, I never had it that bushy,” Eckersley said. “And I am kind of jealous of it. I’m getting older man, my stuff’s getting gray. So I am jealous, absolutely.”
