Expect a lot of traffic, excitement, and noise around Qwest Field Thursday night.
The Seattle Sounders FC kick off the 2010 season in a match with the Philadelphia Union and they hope it will be as successful, on and off the field, as the first season.
Not only was the Sounders FC the first Major League Soccer expansion team since 1998 to make the the MLS Cup Playoffs, but the team also scored more fans in the stands than other MLS team.
A capacity crowd is expected at Qwest Field Thursday evening for the kick off at 6:30. Be aware that traffic around the field will be heavy. As many as 36,000 people will make their way to the first match.
“March to the Match,” a parade of blue and green led by the Sound Wave band, will snake its way to Qwest from Occidental Park about an hour before start-time.
