The struggling Seattle Sounders FC have signed defender Jeff Parke, more than a year after Seattle took Parke in the 2009 expansion draft.
The signing was announced on Thursday. He will be added to the roster pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
Parke was taken by Seattle in the expansion draft but opted to sign with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the USL. He took part in Seattle’s training camp this season but left the team and did not sign a contract.
Parke spent his first five MLS seasons playing with the New York Red Bulls, appearing in 132 matches for the club. He was suspended for 10 games during the 2008 season after testing positive for a banned substance that was part of an over-the-counter nutritional supplement Parke used.
