Well, it definitely was an exciting game against San Jose. We scored two very good goals, but also took two goals. I lost my voice, but that was due to a cold, not from screaming too much at my team. I hope I can shake this thing this week.
Flying home was no joy. I am sure all of you who have flown with a cold can appreciate flying where your head feels like a melon due to congestion. Not fun, but we all go through it at some point.
I was very happy with the starting debut of Mauro Rosales. He set up a very good goal and was active in the first half. Erik Friberg went into the game with the flu and felt weak. I think he did well to get in a reasonably solid 45 minutes.
San Jose scored a goal that could be the goal of the week. After the blast from Juninho in the opener, it is the second bomb we have faced. We need to score one of those ourselves.
Reserve game
While the starters traveled home Sunday morning, the reserve players and all the coaches stayed to participate in the reserve game versus San Jose. The game was at 11 a.m. and we won 1-0. The goal was scored by Michael Tetteh on a left-footed shot late in the game. We created more chances then they did and the defense was solid, especially Zach Scott.
Our return flight was not until 7 p.m., so it was a long day and we had some time to kill after the game. But that is always easier after you win.
So our first reserve win is under our belt. Now we need to add our first MLS win. See you at Qwest this weekend.
