The Mariners made five roster moves on Wednesday, most notably placing young outfielder Taylor Trammell on the injured list after he left Tuesday’s game after injuring his right hamstring.

Servais: Cal Raleigh’s breakthrough not limited to his hitting

In addition to Trammell going on the injured list, the Mariners recalled outfielder Marcus Wilson and utility man Sam Haggerty from Triple-A, demoted infielder Kevin Padlo and moved Tom Murphy to the 60-day injured list. Murphy’s season is done as he’s set to undergo shoulder surgery, and placing him on the 60-day IL allowed the Mariners to open a 40-man roster spot for Wilson.

Trammell had a right hamstring injury at the start of the season when he was in Triple-A Tacoma, and that injury knocked him out for roughly a month. Once he was healthy, the former first-round pick was added to the MLB roster where he played well, slashing .235/.323/.457 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 32 games. He was Seattle’s go-to right fielder during that stretch, primarily when the team faced right-handed pitching.

Haggerty has been with the Mariners a few teams over the last few seasons and has put together a .188/.278/.250 slash line for Seattle this season in parts of 13 games. He’s starting in right field for the Mariners series finale against the Baltimore Orioles.

For Wilson, his next appearance will be his MLB debut. The 2014 second-round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks joined the Mariners in 2021 and has appeared in 88 games for Triple-A Tacoma. In 59 games this year, Wilson has slashed .209/.336/.469 with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs.

Notably, the Mariners did not select former top prospect Jarred Kelenic from Tacoma to take Trammell’s place on the roster. Kelenic struggled out of the gate for the Mariners this season, slashing .140/.219/.240 in 30 games before being sent to Triple-A. He’s since slashed .296/.340/.576 in 31 games for the Rainiers with eight home runs and 22 RBIs.
