Jesus Sucre will make his 2016 MLB debut, filling in for regular catcher Chris Iannetta on Friday for the Mariners in the second game of the four-game series against the Royals. Sucre was activated from the DL on Wednesday after recovering from a broken leg suffered in winter ball in January.
The Mariners also have Daniel Robertson in the starting lineup for the third time in four days, this time in right field.
Hisashi Iwakuma will pitch for Seattle against Kansas City flamethrower Yordano Ventura in the 5:15 game, which will air live on 710 ESPN Seattle. The pregame show starts at 4.
