Video: Chris Iannetta delivers walkoff homer in Mariners’ win

Another win, another hero for the Seattle Mariners.

After big performances earlier in the week by Ketel Marte and Dae-Ho Lee against the Rays, catcher Chris Iannetta took his turn in the spotlight on Wednesday afternoon, driving an opposite-field walkoff home run in the 11th inning to finish off a series sweep of Tampa Bay for Seattle.

Iannetta has been a key part of the Mariners’ revamped offense this season, providing a solid on-base percentage (.333) and some occasional pop (three homers) while typically hitting in the final third of the batting order.

He’ll have some time to savor his big hit, as the streaking Mariners – winners of seven of their last eight series – will take Thursday off before looking to add to their American League West Division-leading 21-13 record Friday against the L.A. Angels.
