Just how much do we love our Seattle Seahawks?
Sunday’s game on Q13 was the most-watched TV event in Seattle since the 2006 Super Bowl.
Overall, 79-percent of TV’s that were on were tuned into the game. That’s about 829-thousand households.
“Even more amazingly, right at the peak of the game, when it was coming down to the final play, we spiked to a 53.5 rating, and an 87 share,” says Jeremy Dietz, the research director at KCPQ.
Dietz says in comparison, the Super Bowl game in 2006 between the Hawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers got a 54 rating and an 85 share overall. The Opening Ceremonies during the Olympics last summer got about half the number of viewers, compared to Sunday’s game.
Dietz points out the numbers don’t include fans who were watching the game outside their homes. “This far exceeds our expectations,” he says. “Now that the market has a sense for what this team can do, the sky’s the limit next season.”
