SPONSORED – After a cancellation in Week 1, the UW Huskies were able to notch a 27-21 victory in their season opener against Oregon State on Saturday.
It was a closer game than anticipated by most but head coach Jimmy Lake was very proud of his team’s performance. He acknowledged that it wasn’t perfect but kept stressing the adversity they had overcome, not only in their win but also in staying focused after they had to wait an extra week for their season opener.
In Pullman, WSU looked really good against Oregon in the first half, forcing three turnovers and heading into halftime with a lead. Unfortunately for the Cougs, the momentum shifted the other way in the second half and the night ended with a 43-29 victory by the Ducks. WSU coach Nick Rolovich said he thought his team played hard but they need to communicate and execute better moving forward.
