Seahawks’ Russell Wilson files for divorce

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has filed for divorce from his wife, Ashton. The team made the announcement in a press release Wednesday.
The press release included this statement from Russell Wilson:
“I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. Clearly, decisions like these don’t come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this personal matter.”
According to this story from the Richmomd (Va.) Times-Dispatch, the two met in high school, began dating while they were at North Carolina State University and were married in January of 2012.
Ashton Wilson discussed the couple’s marriage during an interview with KIRO Radio in November.
