The Seahawks traded running back Christine Michael to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, a move that made room for the signing of veteran Fred Jackson.

Seattle received an undisclosed 2016 draft pick from Dallas for Michael, a talented runner who never reached the potential that the Seahawks saw in him to make him a a second-round pick out of Texas A&M in 2013. He was seen as the potential replacement for Marshawn Lynch down the line but a lack of consistency and fumbling issues kept him from working ahead of second-stringer Robert Turbin on the depth chart.

The draft pick the Seahawks received is reported to be a conditional seventh rounder, according to the NFL Network’s Albert Breer.

With the trade of Michael and Turbin on the injured reserve, undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls remains on Seattle’s 53-man roster after an impressive preseason and training camp.

In two seasons with the Seahawks, Michael rushed for 254 yards on 52 attempts. His longest gain is 45 yards, and he has yet to score his first touchdown in a regular season game.

In Dallas, the 24-year-old Michael joins a new-look backfield that also consists of Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar as the Cowboys look to replace last year’s league-leading rusher, DeMarco Murray, who left for Philadelphia as a free agent this offseason.

Here are more personnel notes from the Seahawks on Sunday, the day after they cut their roster down to 53:

• The Seahawks have announced seven signings to their practice squad. They include former UW wide receivers Kasen Williams and Kevin Smith, as well as linebacker Eric Pinkins, a 2014 sixth-round pick by Seattle, and tackle Terry Poole, a fourth-round selection by the Seahawks this year. Others signed are TE RaShaun Allen, G/C Will Pericak, and RB Rod Smith. CB Kevin Short and CB Justin Coleman have also reportedly joined the practice squad, though no announcements have been by the Seahawks.

• Four players Seattle waived on Saturday were listed as claimed by other team on Sunday’s official transactions report. They are DT T.Y. McGill (Indianapolis), DE Obum Gwacham (New Orleans), S Ronald Martin (New York Jets), and S Keenan Lambert (Oakland).
