Right-handed reliever Chasen Bradford has been placed on Seattle’s 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, with left-hander Erik Swanson being recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to take his spot on the roster.
Bradford, 29, has appeared in five games this season for the Mariners, including on Monday in relief of Félix Hernández, which was his second outing in as many days. He has a 4.26 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP, one hold and one save.
Swanson, 25, would be making his Major League debut in his first appearance with Seattle. Acquired along with Justus Sheffield and Dom Thompson-Williams from the Yankees for James Paxton over the offseason, Swanson made his 2019 Triple-A debut on April 4, allowing six hits and striking out eight over five scoreless innings. An eighth-round MLB Draft pick by the Texas Rangers in 2014, Swanson had a combined 2.66 ERA in 24 games (22 starts) between Single-A, Double-A and Triple-A in 2018.
