At 32-years-old and with four Pro Bowl nods under his belt, Seahawks left tackle Duane Brown is still looking to improve his game. He’s in luck here in Seattle, where he can seek advice from one of the best to ever play the position: Seven-time All Pro and Pro Football Hall of Fame left tackle Walter Jones.

“My first time seeing (Jones) was actually on the sidelines, the first game I suited up in,” Brown told 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny, Dave and Moore Tuesday, “and it was just like, ‘Man, that’s the GOAT right there. That’s the best of all time; it’s doesn’t get any better than Walter Jones.’

“So I briefly spoke to him and that was it. (I) got a chance to see him a few more times after that. I haven’t been able to sit down with him one on one to really pick his brain, but I plan to for sure. And I told him that. He’s been all ears and willing to help. Every time he comes to practice I ask him a few questions just to try to get a little bit. I watch a ton of his film being here. That’s the beauty of being with the Seahawks, they have the archives of Walter Jones film and I’m able to watch that and try to implement some of his stuff the best I can. It’s not easy; he made it look so easy out there.”

Brown, 32, signed a three-year contract extension Saturday that will keep him in Seattle through the 2021 season. The veteran Pro Bowler originally joined the Seahawks as part of a midseason trade in Oct. 2017. He’ll see his first full offseason with the team this summer.

Now in his thirties, Brown is driven more than anything by his desire to push himself and improve. He understands he benefitted from being able to make money early in his career as a first-round draft pick, but that a rough rookie year has influenced him more than finances.

“If you’re not trying to do it to be as great as you can be, then what are you doing it for?” Brown said. “Everyone has their different motivations. We all are going to make money; it has to be more than that. I want to be the best version of myself. Whatever that is, I want to tap into every ounce of my potential that I have and have no regrets when I’m done.”
