Last month, “Brock and Salk” designated Boy Howdy for assignment. That assignment: head to Tacoma for a night to cover his favorite player, Mike Zunino, whom the Mariners had optioned back to Triple-A a week earlier so he could work on his swing following a dreadful start to the season.
Zunino was hitting .167 when he was sent down. He was recalled on May 22, and over his last six games, he’s gone 11 for 23 (.478) with five extra-base hits and 11 RBIs. Seven of those RBIs came Saturday night, when he crushed a 441-foot grand slam into the left-field bleachers of the upper deck at Safeco Field.
Naturally, Boy Howdy is taking credit for Zunino’s hot hitting. He does so in his latest song, “Howdy Fixed Zunino,” which debuted on Monday’s show. You can hear the segment and the song in the audio embedded atop this post.
