The Mariners’ starting pitchers have totaled 15 innings since they last allowed a run to an opposing offense. Ariel Miranda will look to extend that streak as he takes the mound in Friday’s 7:10 game against the Chicago White Sox on 710 ESPN Seattle.
Rowland-Smith: Mariners should try Marc Rzepczynski as closer
Rookie Sam Gaviglio put up five shutout innings for the Mariners in his first career MLB start in Thursday’s 5-4 win over Chicago, while Christian Bergman went 7 1/3 scoreless frames in a 4-0 victory over the Oakland A’s on Wednesday. And on Tuesday, Chase De Jong kept the A’s from crossing the plate for the final 2 2/3 innings of his six inning outing.
Miranda will be coming off a decent five-inning, one-run start in which he struck out eight Toronto Blue Jays in his last appearance.
Jose Quintana will take the hill for the White Sox in Friday’s Game 2, making it a battle of lefties in the pitching matchup.
Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame at 6.
