Another Seahawk has broken the Pro Bowl-snub curse, with wide receiver Doug Baldwin being named Monday as the replacement for Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald, who can’t participate in the event because of an injury.
Baldwin was added to the NFC team that will consist of seven Seahawks. The 28-year-old joins a pair of other veteran first-timers in Seattle: defensive end Cliff Avril and linebacker K.J. Wright, who was added as an injury replacement last week. Baldwin and tight end Jimmy Graham are the two players from the Seahawks’ offense on the NFC squad, with cornerback Richard Sherman, defensive end Michael Bennett, and linebacker Bobby Wagner rounding out the group. This is the third straight season Seattle will send seven representatives to the Pro Bowl.
After a breakout season in 2015 where he tied for a league-high 14 touchdowns, Baldwin established career-highs in 2016 with 1,128 receiving yards and a franchise-record-tying 94 receptions, along with seven touchdown receptions, and his first-ever TD pass.
The Pro Bowl starts at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla.
