Due to his yellow card in Uruguay’s match against Venezuela, Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro is suspended for his country’s next match. This means that he’ll be returning early from international duty and should be available to start against Houston Dynamo next Wednesday, per a press release from the club.
It was originally assumed that Lodeiro would miss this match, as Uruguay is set to play another World Cup qualifier on Tuesday against Colombia. This is a pretty big deal, because a win against Houston next week clinches a playoff spot for the Sounders. If the USA also releases Jordan Morris early, the Sounders could have their two best attackers available.
Left-back Joevin Jones is not expected to return early from international duty with Trinidad and Tobago, as it will play in a crucial Caribbean Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
Spenser Davis also covers the Sounders for Sounder at Heart.
