John Schneider: Seahawks not interested in Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow became a free agent a day after the Seahawks concluded the draft without using any of their 11 picks on a quarterback who could give them another backup option.

So it was a question that had to be asked when general manager John Schneider joined “Brock and Danny” on Monday: How about Tebow?

“Uh, no,” Schneider said flatly when asked whether the Seahawks have any interest in a left-handed former Heisman Trophy winner, an obvious reference to Tebow.

Schneider said the Seahawks feel they’re set with the three quarterbacks they have behind starter Russell Wilson, which was evident in their decision to not draft a quarterback. Brady Quinn, presumably the leading candidate to be the backup, has starting experience and a willingness to help Wilson with his preparation. Josh Portis and Jerrod Johnson are bigger, athletic quarterbacks who are low on experience but high on upside.

Portis was the team’s third quarterback in 2011 and spent part of last season on the practice squad before he was released. Seattle signed Johnson last week after he impressed the team during a workout.

Brock Huard and Danny O’Neil pick up the conversation from there, discussing in the video below why Seattle doesn’t have any interest in Tebow.
