A Seahawks win would set up rematch with 49ers for NFC title

The Seahawks could get a rematch many have clamored for if they win on Sunday.

Since the San Francisco 49ers beat the Minnesota Vikings in the divisional round 27-10 on Saturday, they will host the NFC Championship game next Sunday. Their opponent will be determined when Seattle squares off with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
If the Seahawks can win their ninth road game this season, they would get their chance to win the tiebreaker against the 49ers.
As with all divisional opponents, the Seahawks and 49ers faced off twice during the regular season, and both games were classics.
The Seahawks won an overtime thriller in Week 10 27-24 thanks to the stellar play of defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who had a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and a number of quarterback hits and pressures. Kicker Jason Myers hit a big field goal late in the fourth quarter as well as the game winner at the end of overtime.
Week 17 also had some drama, as the Seahawks were just inches away from stealing the win after a sluggish start.
The Seahawks were down 13-0 at halftime and came roaring back at the end.
Seattle scored 21 points in the second half and were down 26-21 when they converted a fourth-and-10 to get to the 1-yard line. A delay of game pushed them to the 6, and after an incomplete pass, tight end Jacob Hollister was the intended target, but the defender collided with him and there was no penalty for holding or pass interference.
Hollister caught the next ball, and got within inches of the goal line, but was short and San Francisco won the game, the NFC West and the No. 1 seed.
The road team won both matchups and if Seattle can get through Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, they would get a chance to keep that streak going, as well as win their 11th road game of the year, to get to the team’s fourth-ever Super Bowl.
The only time the Seahawks won the Super Bowl was 2013, and they beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. That game, however, was in Seattle.
