Reports: Seahawks, Sidney Rice agree on 5-year deal

The Seahawks and free agent wide receiver Sidney Rice have agreed to a five-year deal, according to multiple reports.

Rice, 24, is considered one of the league’s best young receivers, and he’ll be paid as such. ESPN’s John Clayton reports the deal is worth $41 million and includes $18.5 million in guaranteed money.

The deal, first reported by Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com, can’t be signed until Friday.

In Seattle, Rice will reunite with his former Vikings teammate, Tarvaris Jackson, who agreed to a deal with the Seahawks on Tuesday and figures to compete for the starting quarterback job. Seattle’s offensive coordinator is Darrell Bevell, who had the same position in Minnesota.

Rice, a second round pick in 2007, had a breakout season for the Vikings in 2009 when he caught 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns. He was slowed last season by a hip injury that required surgery, catching 17 passes and a pair of touchdowns in six games.

Rice adds a deep-threat to Seattle’s receiving corp, and at 6-foot-4, 202 pounds, another big body to pair with Mike Williams. Earlier Wednesday, veteran slot receiver Brandon Stokley agreed to a deal with the Redskins.
