The Seahawks scored their biggest win of the season on Sunday night, holding off the 11-win Kansas City Chiefs 38-31 for a postseason-clinching win.

As we do every week, we have polled the voices of 710 ESPN Seattle for their instant reactions to the Seahawks’ win. Find those below, and tune in to 710 on Monday for special Christmas Eve programming: The Blitz live with Lydia Cruz at 6 a.m., Brock and Salk from 7 to 10 – including The Pete Carroll Show with the Seahawks head coach at 9:30, and John Clayton from 10 to noon.

The Seahawks did what they’ve done well virtually all season – run the ball. Over 200 yards on the ground is a great day. But it was the passing game that sealed the deal for them. Late in the game with only a 3-point lead, Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett came up with spectacular receptions when it mattered most. It ultimately led to a Chris Carson TD that essentially locked this one up for the Hawks.

The Hawks also lock up a playoff spot with this win. But what made it even more impressive was that they did against one of the best teams in the league, one that is still playing for postseason positioning. And the Seahawks did that even though they were very short-handed. Tedric Thompson, Germain Ifedi and Rashaad Penny were all inactive, while D.J. Fluker, K.J. Wright, Bradley McDougald and Doug Baldwin were all playing at less than 100 percent.

With everything on the line, the Hawks came up with one of their most impressive wins of the season.

The offseason “turn” is now heading to the postseason.

Maybe it wasn’t supposed to happen this quickly, but Pete Carroll has never had a finer season as a professional coach and Russell Wilson just capped it off with one of his finest performances of the year. And yeah, he had a little help from Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett and everyone else who played a role in one of the best games of the season.

There are so many things that happen over the course of a football game and I understand that quarterbacks don’t ever truly face each other. But with Wilson and Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes, this sure felt like two smart, athletic, creative, accurate, strong-armed passers one-upping each other for sixty minutes. And while both had incredible “wow” moments throwing on the run and scampering away from collapsing pockets, it was Russell’s final two throws that will define this game.

Maybe next time, kid. Who knows, maybe in Atlanta in February? It would work for me…
