The Seahawks’ wide receivers have been breaking the mold with their touchdown celebrations this season, and the one they busted out last Sunday after Tyler Lockett’s score against the Panthers may have been the best yet.

Wyman’s Football 101: Seahawks won’t be facing same Richard Sherman

For the second time this year, Lockett was in the starring role of a celebration that mimicked a different sport altogether. First was a baseball brawl reminiscent of Nolan Ryan and Robin Ventura’s classic encounter, and this time it was a trip to the hardwood.

That’s right – Lockett took the role of Allen Iverson, re-creating the former NBA great’s memorable shot and step over Tyronn Lue. So where did the idea come from? Turns out it was the real estate agent that Lockett and fellow wide receiver Doug Baldwin both use.

“He sent me the video and said, ‘You guys should do this next,’” Lockett said in a Player Spotlight interview with 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny, Dave and Moore. “So when I sent it to the group, everybody was like, ‘Yeah, let’s do that. That will look good.’”

Baldwin was even able to find a way for the celebration to have some extra meaning for the Seahawks, thanks to Iverson’s nickname.

“Doug was telling us how people were posing a question, and he said the best thing to do was to give them ‘The Answer,’” Lockett said.

To pull off the celebration properly, there needed to be someone willing to play the inglorious role of Lue. Lucky for the Seahawks, David Moore was happy to.

Clayton: We’re watching Pete Carroll’s best season as Seahawks coach

“I mean, he wanted to do it,” Lockett said. “He loves basketball, too, so he was like, ‘I know what he did. I know what happened.’”

Lockett had much more to talk about in his interview with Danny, Dave and Moore, which you can listen to in full at this link or in the embedded player in this post.
