The Seahawks officially returned to practice Monday following their Week 7 bye, and Pete Carroll spoke with reporters afterward to offer a few quick updates.

Will K.J. Wright or Ed Dickson have most impact for Seahawks in return?

Seattle’s head coach confirmed that linebacker K.J. Wright (knee) and tight end Ed Dickson returned to practice, and also announced a return for rookie defensive end Rasheem Green (ankle), who has missed the last three games.

“They did fine,” Carroll said of Wright and Dickson. “I need to see the (practice) film to see it all. We limited them, they didn’t take all of the work. They probably had a dozen competitive plays, as well as all the rest of the stuff in practice. But enough to get them going and get them feeling part of it.”

Tight end Nick Vannett, who missed Week 6 with a back issue, was also able to return to practice.

A hearing for Mychal Kendricks

Carroll provided an update on linebacker Mychal Kendricks, who is currently suspended.

“There was a hearing today,” Carroll said. “I don’t know the results of the hearing, but there was a significant hearing today that has been scheduled all along. So we’ll find out, I hope to hear something tomorrow through the commissioner. So we’d like to know what’s going on.”

There will be no media availability Tuesday, so any update from Carroll will likely be given during his regular Wednesday afternoon press conference.

Mychal Kendricks spent three weeks with the Seahawks this season, playing in relief of Wright at weakside linebacker, before he was dealt an indefinite suspension from the league on Oct. 2, a result of insider trading charges. Kendricks was allowed to play for Seattle while his suspension was in appeal.

Roster moves

The Seahawks claimed linebacker Emmanuel Ellerbee off of waivers Monday. The 6-feet-1, 236-pound Ellerbee played for Rice University and spent three games this year with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Ellerbee takes a spot on the roster vacated by safety T.J. Green, who was placed on the exempt list with the designation that he left the team. Green originally signed with the Seahawks on Oct. 3.

“I can’t tell you other than he was ready to stop playing football,” Carroll said, when asked why Green left the team. “I don’t know any more about it than that, really. He was done playing ball.”

The Seahawks will resume practice Wednesday in preparation of their Week 8 road game against the Detroit Lions.
