The Seahawks are one month into their offseason program and are set to kick off OTAs Monday, May 14. Already it’s been a busy few weeks – a few rookies stole the show during the NFL Draft and rumors of an Earl Thomas trade have fans keeping their eyes glued to news about the All-Pro safety.

But outside of rumors and new players are two Seahawks who have stood out to 710 ESPN Seattle’s Brock Huard: offensive lineman Ethan Pocic and linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Pat Kirwin talks Seahawks’ rookie class, Wilson’s upcoming contract

“By all accounts, (Ethan Pocic) is just a different guy,” Huard said during his Blue 42 segment of Brock and Salk Monday morning. “If there was a little bit of a transformation for (center) Justin Britt from year two to year three as he finally found his footing, well maybe that was sped up a couple years for Pocic. Because he finally found his footing last year in the second half of the season.”

The Seahawks selected Pocic in the second round of last year’s draft, and by season’s end the guard named to the PFWA’s All-Rookie team.

“He was a guy who graded out as far as rookies go, especially in the second half, very well,” Huard said. “He’s added nearly 20 pounds to his size, focusing on nothing but his craft. I think he’s got a chance to continue to be a difference maker up front. Add Britt, add Duane Brown, and now you’ve got at least hopefully a confident offensive line.”

Veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner also made an impression on Huard. It wasn’t just for his play, which has been solid for years, but for his ever-emerging leadership.

“For all the talk of all the losses of everybody – Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett – one guy is still in the middle, and that’s Bobby,” Huard said. “And he was on last week with Gee Scott on KIRO Nights and you just hear a maturity. You hear a total investment in this community and in this team. I don’t think there’s any doubt that his voice is going to grow on that side of the ball.”

Listen to the full Blue 42 segment here, where Huard also talks about this year’s group of undrafted rookie free agents.
