Myles Gaskin, Washington’s star running back, officially announced his decision to forgo the NFL Draft and return to school for his senior season on Sunday.
It’s great news for the University – Gaskin has rushed for more than 1,300 in each of his three seasons with UW, had 21 touchdowns in 2017, and is a highly-respected teammate – but the news had 710 ESPN Seattle’s Mike Salk wondering whether returning to school for a fourth year is a bad idea for a tailback.
Brock Huard: Players should feel accountability for Bevell, Cable
Brock Huard believes Gaskin made the right choice, not just for fans, but for himself.

“More than likely he got a grade back from the NFL that said you’re going to be a fourth- or fifth-rounder,” Brock Huard said during his Blue 42 segment of Brock and Salk on 710 ESPN Seattle. “And if you’re going to be a fourth- or fifth-rounder in 2017, why not have an opportunity to build your resume that much more, show you can do even a little bit more, and sneak into the second- or third-round with an enormous year next season when you are the focus.”
“I think also in this, I think you can focus on one of two things. You can focus on what it isn’t and what you’re not getting, and that is getting paid, or you could focus on the other huge list of things that you do get: I get another year with Chris Petersen, I get to play on a team that I really enjoy, I get an opportunity to shatter every record and be at the top of that rushing list, maybe for perpituity, at the University of Washington.
“Not all bad in Seattle, and obviously great news for Chris Petersen and his staff.”
