One of the highlights from the Seahawks’ 21-12 victory over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday was neither a touchdown nor a tackle.

It was cornerback Justin Coleman leaping into a giant red kettle.

Coleman knew the kettle leap was the endzone celebration he wanted to carry out before he intercepted a pass from Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in the third quarter and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown.

“Basically I just told my teammates, ‘If I catch a pick-six in this end zone right here then I’m gonna just run and jump in that kettle,’” Coleman said.

“(Prescott) was kind of was just looking my way and I was just hoping he threw it. And I think he just overthrew it, and it ended up coming to me and I kind of scooped it… At first when I caught it, I thought it was actually about to hit the grass. But when I looked at the film, I feel like it was probably a foot away. So it wasn’t too low, but it was a difficult catch.”

Coleman joined Danny, Dave and Moore on 710 ESPN Seattle for the Seahawks Spotlight to talk about the play and his bright year with Seattle.

The Seahawks acquired Coleman in a September trade with the New England Patriots. Through 15 games, the third-year pro has two interceptions (both returned for touchdowns), 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Coleman, 24, credits a renewed approach to game prep – in addition to more experience and confidence — for his best year yet in the league.

“The biggest change for me was my focus on the actual game; getting to the film, watching more film, putting myself in a better position. Because I know I used to just be like, ‘I’m fast, I’m quick, I can just rely on my athletic ability,’ but that’s not the case.”

Coleman talks to Danny, Dave and Moore about the locker room feeling heading into the Cowboys game (after a devastating loss to the Rams), what he thinks of the possibility of being fined for his endzone celebration, and how he spent his Christmas. Listen to the entire interview, embedded above.
