OAKLAND – A report earlier today by Ryan Divish of The News Tribune appears to be accurate as multiple sources tell me that general manager Jack Zduriencik -whose contract was set to expire at the end of this season – has indeed been given a one-year extension by the Mariners.

I am told that Zduriencik’s contract was extended before the season. His new deal runs through 2014.

The extension has not been announced by the team and both Zduriencik and president Chuck Armstrong have refused to comment on it multiple times this season.

Manager Eric Wedge’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the season. One source told me that Wedge and the club met a week and a half ago but it is not known if a contract was discussed.

Wedge, recovering from a mild stroke, is expected to to rejoin the club Friday in Seattle.
