Eddie Lacy out, Earl Thomas doubtful for Seahawks’ TNF matchup against Cardinals

It’s looking like the Seahawks will be without veteran safety Earl Thomas once again when they head to Arizona to face the NFC West rival Cardinals (4-4) Thursday. Thomas is officially listed as doubtful with a hamstring strain, though the Seahawks will likely keep him out to rest him over the long week that follows before a Nov. 20 primetime game at home.
“Because of the severity of (Thomas’) strain, it’s taken some time,” said head coach Pete Carroll, who gave final injury updates ahead of Seattle’s matchup. “We’re not able to get him to practice yet. We got him some special work this week and so that’s why it’s doubtful.”

If Thomas is out, Bradley McDougald will see his second start for Seattle at free safety.
Running back Eddie Lacy will be out with a groin injury, which means Seattle will lean on third-year pro Thomas Rawls, who last week put up a combined 70 yards rushing-receiving in Seattle’s 17-14 loss to Washington. Also making a return will be running back C.J. Prosise, who will play after missing two weeks with an ankle injury.
“No limitations on (Prosise) other than how much we want to play him. We just want to get him back going and get him to help us out some,” Carroll said.
The team received good news regarding defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, who is expected to play after being sidelined last week with an oblique injury. Wide receiver Paul Richardson – currently Seattle’s second-leading receiver with a team-high five touchdowns – is also expected to play after working through a groin injury.
Seattle will get help on special teams and at defensive end with the addition of Dion Jordan, who will be activated to Seattle’s 53-man roster and is expected to play Thursday. It will be Jordan’s first return to the field since 2014, so Carroll isn’t expecting him to see too many snaps.
“We’re anxious to see him. He’s practiced very well, he’s in great shape, so we’ll see how he does,” Carroll said. “(We) look forward to not overloading him play-wise, but just get him some play time and start building him back into it and see where he fits.”
Jordan will take the spot vacated by left tackle Rees Odhiambo, who will be placed on Injured Reserve. Odhiambo is set to undergo surgery on both hands to repair two dislocations and a broken finger.
Defensive end Marcus Smith (concussion) is not expected to play, but should return for Seattle next week.
