Earl Thomas had one of the biggest plays in a game of big plays in the Seahawks’ 41-38 win over the Houston Texans, but his status for next week is up in the air.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Thomas has a slight hamstring pull, an injury that prevented him from playing the final moments of the game against Houston, he told Brock and Salk on Monday morning.

O’Neil: Seahawks survive historically bad day on defense

“We gotta see what that means. He’s gonna deny that it’s a problem,” Carroll said half-jokingly, adding that he’s “really glad” Thomas didn’t fight the Seahawks’ decision to hold him out at the end of the contest.

Thomas returned an interception 78 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter against Houston, tying the game at 7-7.

Carroll is confident that backup Bradley McDougald will be to step into the free safety spot next Sunday against Washington if Thomas is unable to play.

“Badley will step up if (Thomas) can’t go,” Carroll said. “That’s the situation you face. ‘Oh, your starting safety is out,’ and there’s Bradley McDougald back there – you feel pretty good.”
