The NFL’s trade deadline is just two weeks away, and in Seattle, all eyes are on the Seahawks’ offensive line – especially after news came out Tuesday that Luke Joeckel will miss four to five weeks following knee surgery. As far as what the Seahawks could part ways with, 710 ESPN Seattle’s Gee Scott said the Seahawks’ pool of defensive backs is quite possibly the league’s deepest and would be one possible place from which to draw talent.

Seahawks OL Luke Joeckel expected to miss 4-5 weeks

The strongest candidate for a trade proposal is Jeremy Lane, particularly following the surprising performance from former Patriots corner Justin Coleman and the potential return of starter DeShawn Shead from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Lane missed the Seahawks’ last game due to a groin injury but appears to be in line to return Sunday against the New York Giants.

“Right now you have Justin Coleman, who came out of nowhere and played very well. And from what I’m told right now the players and the coaches really like (him),” Scott said. “Before (Jeremy) Lane went out, before he had the groin injury, (he was) playing unbelievable football. Shaq Griffin, you see him out there, he’s playing good football. And then you have the emergence, the possibility, that DeShawn Shead is going to be coming off PUP.

“This is a time where you talk about, if there was a possibility of trade, that’s the sector that you probably pull from. I’m quite sure that around the NFL nobody has a crop of DBs right now, I believe, like the Seahawks. They’re loaded in the secondary. And if they’re going to make some kind of move that’s probably where a move would come from. I don’t know if it’s J-Lane, I don’t know who it could be. I know it wouldn’t be Justin Coleman. So, to make a move like that, that could be a possibility. But this offensive line thing, whether it’s going to be a left tackle that comes in, whatever needs to happen, it needs to happen now.”

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported Sunday that the Seahawks may seek to add help on the line via trade, and the team has been making inquiries for weeks. The most recent of these was reportedly concerning Bills’ left tackle Cordy Glenn, though La Canfora added that conversation had “largely fizzled.” Texans Pro Bowl tackle Duane Browne is another name that has been thrown around as a potential target, and the team recently met with free agent Branden Albert, though head coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that no deal was in place with him.

The Seahawks have not shied away from blockbuster trades in years past, the biggest of which have involved wide receiver Percy Harvin, tight end Jimmy Graham and even wide receiver Jermaine Kearse just before the start of this season.
