Seattle head coach Pete Carroll joined Brock and Salk on Monday morning to review the Seahawks’ 12-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers. You can listen to the full interview embedded above or at this link. Here’s a quick breakdown of what he covered.

Graham hurt. Jimmy Graham is dealing with a sore ankle, something that will bear watching as the Seahawks prepare for their Week 3 matchup in Tennessee. “I don’t know what this week’s gonna be for him, not sure yet,” Carroll said.

Sherman update. Richard Sherman played despite being deemed questionable on Friday for a hamstring injury, and Carroll said it was remarkable that the cornerback started in his 98th consecutive game. “That was amazing that he played in that game now. He was resolved that nothing else but that was gonna happen. Ninety-nine percent of the guys would never have played in that football game, but he willed it, somehow.”

Spotlight on the offense. Carroll said that while the Seahawks’ lack of points is concerning, they were able to move the ball against San Francisco, which is proof that the offense isn’t having as hard of a time as it might seem. “The fact that we could control the ball as well as we did, make the first downs, converting on third downs … that’s a big day. It just didn’t show it in the points, and so we gotta get that going and get that done.”

Rawls’ debut. Thomas Rawls had a quiet season debut, returning from an ankle injury suffered in the preseason to rush for four yards on five carries. His limited playing time was by design. “We finally got Thomas back out there and got him started, that’s all,” Carroll said. “He’s back playing football for us. … Remember that when a guy plays in his first game we basically play him about a dozen plays.”

The battle rages on. Two weeks into the season, Carroll said the offensive line is still very much open for competition. “That spot is competitive, too. We’re not just sitting on it, we’re gonna wait and see this week how it unfolds, see who’s healthy and all that kinda stuff, but I want to keep this thing competitive. These guys need to keep battling for their play time.”
