Robinson Cano is not in the starting lineup for the Mariners’ series opener against the Yankees at 4:05 Friday on AM 770 KTTH, Seattle’s first game since he tweaked his hamstring Wednesday in Atlanta.
Guillermo Heredia, who came out of the same game Wednesday after being hit in the arm by a pitch, is in the lineup playing center field and hitting seventh.

Earlier Friday, Mariners manager Scott Servais told Brock and Salk that he expected both Cano and Heredia to be day to day.
With Cano nursing his hamstring issue, Taylor Motter will play second base while Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager will be moved up a spot each in the batting order to third and fourth, respectively.
Friday’s game will be the first of three days of MLB’s inaugural Players Weekend, which will see players wearing uniforms with alternate colors and nicknames chosen by the players themselves on the backs of their jersey instead of surnames.
The Mariners enter the day as one of three teams tied at a half-game behind the Twins for the American League’s second wild card spot and four games behind the Yankees, who own the AL’s first wild card spot.
Due to the Seahawks’ preseason game airing on 710 ESPN Seattle, full coverage of Friday’s Mariners game can be found on AM 770 KTTH beginning at 3 with the pregame show. Here are the full lineups.
