Checking in With the Seahawks: Sean Locklear

Apr 14, 2010, 6:38 PM | Updated: Apr 4, 2011, 7:55 pm

Now that mini-camp has begun down at VMAC, we’re checking in with players, coaches and execs alike to find out exactly what’s going on with the Seahawks in 2010.

Today we had the pleasure of chatting with Sean Locklear, and you can find the highlights below.

On His Health: “I’m feeling pretty good. I’ve been up here all off-season. Just another step with this mini-camp and I’m feeling good.”locklear

What Position He’s Playing: Right Tackle. I’m back at right…I am happy, obviously I feel better over there. I’m accustomed, I just feel natural at right. Coach Gibbs came in and said ‘You’re going to the right, and you’re staying over there’.”

On the Difference Between Right and Left Tackle: “For one, it’s backwards. I guess most guys are right-handed, so they’re used to doing everything with the right hand. Just everything is backwards. There are some people, like Walt, who are just natural at it.”

On Criticism of O-Line: “We read the paper, we hear it, and it’s true – we know it. When I was playing left tackle, I’m fighting every week to get better, and I did. And I think it’s kinda hard stepping in the shoes of a guy that was over there for 11, 12 years and that’s all most fans have known over there.”

On Alex Gibbs: “He’s a good coach – I love the guy. He understands the game, he understands what the offensive line’s trying to do, he understands schemes. He yells and screams, but at the same time, he wants you to be a better player. He’s not yelling at you to throw you in the dirt – he wants to get the best out of you, that’s just the type of guy he is.”

walter jones1On Walter Jones: “I wish I (knew). I want him to come back, but I don’t know. It’s according to how he feels.”

On Brandon Marshall: “Oh, man! I think he’s a great player…would I love to have him, of course. But I know the business side, and I thought it was just too far extreme an asking price…and I didn’t know if we had that type of money to offer him.”

On Whether the Seahawks Should Draft O-Line: “First of all, I will not watch the draft, I think that’s the most boring thing ever. I will keep updated, but you know, I don’t know what they’re going to do. But, that’s not up to me…if Big Walt doesn’t come back, I think maybe we should.”

Tune in tomorrow at 3p – we’ll be live from VMAC with the latest breaking Seahawks news.
