Bump’s Seahawks Breakdown: Who’s most important offensive player?

Jul 14, 2022, 1:22 PM | Updated: 1:24 pm

It’s going to be an important year for the Seattle Seahawks’ offense, with second-year offensive coordinator Shane Waldron being handed a fresh slate following the trade of quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.

Rost: Spotlight is on Seahawks’ QBs, but focus should be on talent around them

Who will be the most important player in that offense this season – the two players in the quarterback battle, Drew Lock and Geno Smith, notwithstanding?

In a new Seahawks breakdown video from Seattle Sports’ Michael Bumpus, the current Seahawks analyst and former NFL wide receiver has a clear choice. And since you can see his selection pictured at the top of this post, we won’t try to manufacture any unnecessary suspense. His answer is running back Rashaad Penny, who was a breakout player for Seattle down the stretch during the 2021 season, rushing for at least 135 yards in four of the Seahawks’ last five games.

So why does Bump say the answer is Penny? Well, for that you need to watch the video. Also, keep an eye out this weekend for the second part of this video series when Bump answers the same question for Seattle’s defense.
