Groz: Why this rough Seahawks start feels different from others

Sep 28, 2021, 3:53 PM

This isn’t the first time the Seattle Seahawks have had a slow start to a season under coach Pete Carroll. So why does it feel different?

Heaps: Seahawks not practicing what they preach at CB

Dave “The Groz” Grosby dove into that on his most recent Just A Minute video for 710 ESPN Seattle’s YouTube page.

“Seattle has been a winner a long time under Pete Carroll, and though there are 15 games to fix this, what jumps out is the Seahawks have been crushed in the second half of these games,” Groz said. “It’s one thing to lose yet be close and rallying at the end, but that’s not the case with this team.”

Groz had a couple points to make along the way, one of which has to do with someone who is playing in a different uniform than the Seahawks’ this season.

“I think defensively they miss the veteran savvy of K.J. Wright more than they thought,” he said about the veteran linebacker who is now a member of the 3-0 Las Vegas Raiders.

Then there’s something Russell Wilson said after the Seahawks fell to 0-2 back in 2018 with a 24-17 loss to the Chicago Bears in which Seattle shook off a bad first three quarters to nearly complete a comeback in the fourth.

“I think about Wilson’s words (from 2018): ‘The fourth quarter showed us who we are and who we can be.’ That better not be true (now). Otherwise it’s going to be a long season.”

Listen to Groz’s full thoughts in the video at the top of this post.
