Undrafted rookie wide receiver Tamorrion Terry, who was signed by the Seahawks in May and waived by the team on Wednesday, was indicted last week on a felony murder charge in Georgia.
Terry is one of 11 defendants who were indicted by a grand jury on June 22 on a felony murder complaint involving the June 30, 2018 death of Za’Quavia Smith, a 21-year-old woman, according to the Miami Herald. At least seven people were shot in the incident outside the Studio 2.0 nightclub in Ashburn, Ga. that resulted in the death of Smith. Authorities deemed it a gang-related shooting.
According to a story by ESPN’s David M. Hale published Thursday morning, a source close to Terry said he planned to turn himself into authorities and that he had cooperated with the investigation following the shooting, which included turning his cellphone over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Terry, 23, played in college at Florida State and was one of the more high-profile members of the Seahawks’ undrafted free agent rookie signing class this offseason. He signed with Seattle on May 14.
At the time of the shooting, Terry was entering his redshirt freshman year for the Seminoles.
