SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

A trip down memory lane with Groz, Moon and Raible

By Dave Wyman

The Seahawks have the opportunity to do something this Sunday that they haven’t done since 2007 — win three games in a row.

But a win over the Redskins would be more than that. Now I don’t want to look past the Skins (if only they were in a position to look past teams!) but that kind of momentum would give the 12th Man a lot to yell about when the Eagles come to town the following Thursday. From there, the Hawks get a home rematch with the Rams and then roll the dice on the road in Jay Cutler-less Bears.

I think you know where I’m going with this.

I know I sound foolish but a few weeks ago Dave Grosby reminded me what being a fan is all about. Before the Ravens game, Groz was one of the few in town predicting a Seahawks win. That’s right … Groz’s youthfully naive enthusiasm gave me the strength to dream again, to ride the “dare to dream express” as Groz put it.

Now the “dare to dream express” probably does not make a stop in the playoffs. You’d probably need to make a connection on the “damn fool” express to get to the playoffs, but if this guy can ride that train, so can you!

A trip down memory lane

My sweet little mother-in-law Karen is a pack rat and when I went over to help her move a few weeks ago, she gave me a gameday magazine from 1993 when the Seahawks played my Denver Broncos.

She had no idea the amount of fodder that she provided me.

Yours truly — pictured right — looks like my neck is trying to swallow my head. The caption for this photo should have read, “Yeah, just hurry up and take the damn picture.”

Moon-Sajak

To avoid any confusion, that’s Pat Sajak on the left and Warren Moon on the right. Apparently moustaches were REALLY “in” back in 1993.

Speaking of moustaches, can you guess who the 4th suspect is?

Raible

I’ll give you a hint: “Holy Moustache!” No, that’s not an adult film star. It’s your “voice of the Seahawks,” Steve Raible. Look at those gorgeous flowing locks. His hair looks good, too.

Thanks to my mother-in-law for this little trip down memory lane.
