The Seahawks announced Thursday that rookie right tackle and first-round draft pick James Carpenter has been placed on the injured reserve. Carpenter suffered a season-ending ACL tear in practice last week.

Carpenter logged nine starts this year, eight at right tackle. He played left guard in the season-opener when Robert Gallery was sidelined with a groin injury.

Both Carpenter and rookie right guard John Moffitt underwent successful knee surgeries on Wednesday at the Seattle Surgery Center.

To replace Carpenter on the active roster, the team has re-signed offensive tackle Allen Barbre.

Barbre was originally selected by Green Bay in the fourth round of the 2007 draft out of Missouri Southern. He played three games for the Seahawks last season and has logged 28 total in his career, with seven starts.

“It feels good to be back with the team,” Barbre said Thursday after practice. “I was out with an injury and then as soon as I got cleared — actually, I got cleared on Tuesday — and I ended up here on Wednesday.”

“I worked in a little today,” Barbre said. “Just kind of moving around, just kind of getting comfortable. They are letting me get my feet under me and just get working again.”

Barbre said that although the playbook is different than the last time he was with the team, it shouldn’t be a problem to transition back to full duty.

The team also signed wide receiver Isaiah Williams to the practice squad and released wide receiver Patrick Williams.

Below is the official practice report for Thursday.
