Bill Krueger, a former MLB pitcher and current Mariners analyst for ROOT Sports, says it’s not uncommon for pitchers to hide injuries.
“Sometimes guys are so tough and so determined to make their turn that they can’t get out of their own way,” he told “Bob and Groz” on Monday, three days after Mariners ace Felix Hernandez tweaked his back during a start in which he allowed three home runs in five innings.
“If Felix has an issue, then someone needs to get in his way,” Krueger added.
In the video below, Bob Stelton and Dave Grosby discuss how they think the Mariners should handle Hernandez.
Update: Mariners manager Eric Wedge told reporters after Monday’s game that Hernandez will miss his next start but said a placing him on the disabled list is “not even a consideration for us right now.”
