Three Seahawks starters returning from injury made it through the week with flying colors, including center Ethan Pocic, but the offensive line will be down a different starter Monday night in Philadelphia.

Clayton: Hawks’ improving D could have huge game vs. struggling Eagles

Right tackle Brandon Shell was ruled out Saturday afternoon with a high-ankle sprain for the game against the Eagles. Cedric Ogbuehi will step into the starting lineup in his place, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said in a press conference.

Seattle ruled one other player out: running back Travis Homer, who has been designated with wrist, thumb and knee injuries.

Despite Homer’s absence, the Seahawks’ running game is in great shape with Chris Carson returning from a foot sprain, Pocic back from a concussion and backup Carlos Hyde coming off a strong performance in Week 11. Carroll noted that Carson looked “explosive” in practice and has fresh legs after being out since Week 7.

The third returning starter for the Seahawks is cornerback Shaquill Griffin. He has been out with both a concussion and hamstring strain, but Carroll said Griffin, like Carson and Pocic, made it through the entire week of practice without any setbacks.

The best sign from the Seahawks is that neither of Griffin, Carson or Pocic are listed on Saturday’s injury report.

Here are a few more injury updates Carroll provided Saturday:

• Seattle has five players listed as questionable for the Eagles game: wide receivers David Moore (hip) and Freddie Swain (foot), guards Jordan Simmons (calf) and Kyle Fuller (ankle), and cornerback D.J. Reed (foot). Carroll said Moore “felt a little something” on Friday but thinks he’s going to play.

• RB Alex Collins is in the re-entry process due to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocol after leaving the team for a family matter, Carroll said.

• CB Quinton Dunbar (knee) is getting close to returning to practice. Carroll said his status is “week to week now.”

• Carroll said RB Rashaad Penny, who has been on the PUP list all season coming back from knee surgery late last year, is ready to start practicing next week.

• The Seahawks are still trying to figure out when rookie DE Darrell Taylor, who has been on the NFI list following knee surgery after the conclusion of his 2019 season with Tennessee, will start practicing. “Darrell’s deal is going to go into early next week,” Carroll said.

• WR Phillip Dorsett, who has missed the entire season with a foot injury, is still in a boot following surgery early this month but will be out of it sometime next week, Carroll reported.
