The Seahawks will have four new faces for Sunday’s contest against the San Francisco 49ers, but defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison isn’t one of them.

Heaps: ‘Let Russ Cook’ offense is here to stay for the Seahawks

Rookie tight end Colby Parkinson, a 2020 fourth-round pick, and defensive back D.J. Reed, who the Seahawks claimed off waivers from the 49ers this offseason, have been added to the 53-man roster from the non-football injury/reserve list. Defensive back Jayson Stanley and rookie tight end/defensive end Stephen Sullivan have been added to the game day roster for Week 8 from the practice squad in accordance with 2020 NFL rules.

Parkinson suffered a Jones fracture in his foot this offseason while Reed had a torn pectoral that was part of the reason he was waived by San Francisco.

Head coach Pete Carroll was very excited about the prospect of Reed joining the secondary, calling him fast and aggressive. Reed may be utilized in a big way right away as starting outside corner Shaquill Griffin is out, nickel corner Ugo Amadi is doubtful and strong safeties Jamal Adams and Ryan Neal are questionable. Reed has experience at corner, nickel and safety. The injures in the secondary played a role in Stanley’s promotion for game day. Stanley is a 6-foot-2 cornerback who the Seahawks claimed him off waivers in April from the Atlanta Falcons.

Sullivan, meanwhile, is an interesting addition. He was drafted as a tight end/wide receiver, but the 6-5 LSU alum has been working as an edge rusher lately, and is listed as both a defensive end and tight end on the Seahawks’ roster. Carroll said Friday that Sullivan was close to being able to crack Seattle’s roster as a pass rusher and that they like what he’s been doing at that spot in practices.

The Seahawks are on pace for just 24 sacks this season, four less than in 2019 when they were tied for the second-fewest sacks in the NFL, so Sullivan may be given some opportunities to rush 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, especially as starting defensive end Benson Mayowa is questionable with an ankle injury.

Harrison, a 2016 First-Team All-Pro, has yet to suit up for the Seahawks despite being signed to the practice squad a few weeks ago. Carroll said Harrison had his best week of practice this last week, but didn’t say whether the veteran would suit up for the Seahawks in the divisional contest. Now, Harrison’s next opportunity to play would be Week 9 in Buffalo against the Bills.
