Mariners recall J.P. Crawford, Shed Long; place Dylan Moore on 10-day IL

The Mariners made an expected roster move official Friday afternoon. The team recalled infielders J.P. Crawford and Shed Long from Triple-A Tacoma, both of whom will be available for Seattle’s series opener against the Boston Red Sox. The roster move follows injuries suffered by infielders Dylan Moore and Dee Gordon.

In a corresponding move, Seattle optioned right-handed pitcher Chasen Bradford to Triple-A Tacoma and placed Moore (wrist contusion) on the 10-day injured list. Gordon, who was announced as “day-to-day” with a wrist injury, was out of Friday’s lineup.
Crawford, 24, was acquired by the Mariners in the December 2018 trade that sent short stop Jean Segura and two relievers to the Philadelphia Phillies. Crawford appeared in 72 games over two years with the Phillies, hitting .214 with a .333 on-base percentage. Crawford has done well in Triple-A Tacoma, though; he’s reached base safely in 31 consecutive games.
Long, 23, was also acquired this offseason. His four triples this season are second-most in the Pacific Coast League.
