What We Learned at Mariners spring training: Félix’s outing, Smith’s view of CF, Sheffield’s mentality
Mar 5, 2019, 6:11 PM
A little more happened during Danny, Dave and Moore’s second day with the Mariners at spring training than their first.
OK, a lot more.
The 710 ESPN Seattle hosts sat down for interviews with three of the Mariners’ new, young players in Mallex Smith, Justus Sheffield and Shed Long (stay tuned for the last one, which is set to air later this week). There was a Félix Hernández sighting, as the veteran starter pitched four innings in a B-game against a team from Korea. And then there was the Cactus League game against the nextdoor neighbors, the San Diego Padres (more on that here from Shannon Drayer).
Now compare that to Monday, when… well, everybody was enjoying a day off except for Danny O’Neil, Dave Wyman, Jim Moore and producer Jessamyn McIntyre, and you can see why they were eager to discuss what all they took in Tuesday.
